Cleaning Thick Soot Marks

For wooden surfaces, harden the wax with an ice cube and carefully scrape it with an unused business card or plastic ruler. Then get rid of the residue using a cream furniture wax. Using a blow dryer set in medium, apply heat to the affected area if it is glass. 

When you notice the wax has softened, wipe it with a rag and complete the cleaning process by washing the area with hot soapy water. The same process should be taken when removing spilled wax from a painted wall or surface. The only difference is that you need to use a mixture of 1-part vinegar and 3 parts water.

But it’s possible by carefully using a blow dryer in the medium setting while not overdoing it to avoid burning the leather. Wipe the area with a damp cloth.  This will remove residue.
